This balanced diet that removed grains, dairy, processed foods, and sugars (except for honey).

It is great to see some physicians embracing using diet to treat ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease instead of steroids, which suppress the immune system and don’t actually treat the underlying issue including microbiome imbalance among other things.

Healed myself of Crohns by slowly transitioning to an all raw food diet about 8 years ago. Adhered to the diet about 2 years, while i slowly weened myself off Entocort, Asacol, and 6MP in 3 to 4 month phases. I still eat a heavily plant based diet, but many of my previous trigger foods - dairy, eggs, alcohol, coffee - no longer bother me. Diet now includes lean meats - I still avoid beef - free range eggs, cheeses on occasion, diary in the form of Siggi’s brand yogurts, rice, and occasionally some breads. I still limit sugars, junk food, bread. Only drink water or tea, occasionally a soda if with alcohol. It was somewhat like hitting “reset” on my digestive system. Daily regiment includes probiotics in the am/pm, digestive enzymes in am/pm, cod oil, b12/iron liquid supplement, and chlorella/spirulina tabs am/pm. In the best condition and health of my life. Wish a doctor had told me to change my diet when I was 17, instead of figuring it out on my own.
