According to a retrospective study on 218 hospitalized Wuhan patients, 45% of severe COVID cases had fever compared to 73% of nonsevere. Also, 34% of severe COVID cases had coughing while 61% of nonsevere had coughing. This data suggests that fever and cough are protective and indicative of a proper immune response.
