The main source of vitamin D for infants in the first year of life is breast milk. However, if a mother has inadequate levels of vitamin D herself then the infant will not get a sufficient amount of vitamin D from the milk.
Supplementation with 400 IU of vitamin D during the first year of life led to more muscle mass & less body fat as toddlers.
