Men that routinely engage in either endurance or resistance training had lower cardiovascular stress and did not increase their heart rate as much as untrained men did when put under high social or psychological stress.

This suggests that regular physical activity regardless of whether it is endurance exercise such as biking, or resistance exercise such as lifting weights has health benefits on the cardiovascular system.
