People that supplemented with a bioavailable type of curcumin had a 28% improvement in memory and attention abilities, improvements in mood, and less amyloid and tau signals in the brain compared to those taking a placebo (double-blind, placebo-controlled trial).

This study used (90 mg, twice a day) Theracurmin, a form of curcumin with increased intestinal endothelium penetrability. Previous research has shown that healthy human volunteers consuming 30 mg of oral Theracurmin have a 27-fold higher “area under the blood concentration-time curve” compared with those consuming standard curcumin powder.

Other bioavailable forms of curcumin include Meriva, which is a curcumin phytosome and has been shown to reduce inflammation, pain, and improve mood in other clinical trials.
