The study suggests that elevated blood ketones may inhibit the use of glycogen for energy in favor of fat. Ketone bodies are great for aerobic exercise which requires mitochondria to produce energy. Short bursts of high-intensity exercise do not use mitochondria which means glucose is the only energy source for anaerobic exercise. This is an interesting study but still, a pilot trial and more data are needed before conclusions can be made.
