Women with type 2 diabetes have a 23% higher risk of developing breast cancer and a 38% higher risk of breast cancer mortality. Additionally, women with the highest quartile of fasting glucose levels have a 60% increased relative breast cancer risk compared to women in the lowest quartile.

Time-restricted eating has been shown to improve fasting blood glucose levels and women that ate within an 11-hour window and fasted for 13 hours per night decreased their breast cancer risk and recurrence by as much as 36%.
