People orally given BPA had altered insulin release compared to placebo exposure. The dose of BPA used was equivalent to what a person may encounter on a daily basis. In animal studies repeated BPA exposure resulted in insulin resistance.

BPA is an endocrine disrupting chemical that has been demonstrated to alter signaling mechanisms involving estrogen and other hormones. BPA exposure comes from many sources including plastic water bottles and receipts (BPA on the surface of the paper as a print developer).

Good news is that in addition to being excreted through urine, BPA can be also be excreted through sweat. Exercise, hot yoga, sauna, steam rooms are all great ways to get your sweat on!
