Delaying exercise three and seven days post-concussion was associated with a 46% and 83% slower recovery back to school and work, respectively.

Exercise has many positive effects on the brain including the production of anti-inflammatory and antioxidant factors, and the production of growth factors and neurotrophic factors that produce new neurons and allow existing neurons to survive. All of these processes would benefit an injured brain.
