Probiotics increase the production of a type of cancer-killing immune cell called natural T killer cells and is thought to be partly responsible for the tumor reduction. In the case of colon cancer, probiotics have also been shown to prevent the conversion of procarcinogens into carcinogens. There are several other clinical studies showing the effectiveness of high-dose probiotics in both cancer prevention and treatment.
