Time-restricted eating (breakfast 90 min later and dinner 90 min earlier) for 10 weeks resulted in improved blood glucose levels and twice as much fat loss than people who ate their meals as normal.
Importantly, caloric intake decreased during the time-restricted eating protocol and may account for some improvements. It would have been nice if this study controlled for caloric intake. Other randomized controlled trials have found that time-restricted eating within a 6-hour window without reducing calories or losing weight improves insulin sensitivity, beta cell function, blood pressure, oxidative stress and reduces evening appetite.
