After 10 minutes of light exercise (30% VO2max) high-resolution functional magnetic resonance imaging showed better connectivity between the hippocampal dentate gyrus and cortical areas linked to detailed memory processing. The magnitude of the enhanced functional connectivity also predicted the extent of memory improvement suggesting that even light exercise is good for the brain.
