“In pregnancy, the placenta preferentially transports AA and DHA towards the fetus, with the aim of achieving slightly more than 8% DHA in fetal erythrocytes. Thus, it is fair to speculate that slightly more than 8% DHA in erythrocytes is a target preset by nature for the fetus.”
