Eating eggs (a source of choline) during pregnancy may improve cognitive function in children.

Pregnant women that were given twice the RDA for choline (930 mg/day) during their third trimester had children with cognitive benefits including faster information processing speeds compared to women given 480 mg/day, which is the RDA.

Multiple other studies have found that choline plays an important role during brain development. When rat pups received choline supplements (in utero or during the second week of life), their brain function is changed, resulting in lifelong memory enhancement.
