Aliquot #32: Examining the risk for COVID-19 transmission during air travel
Airplanes are closed, cramped spaces that seem ideal for COVID-19 transmission. Even so, surprisingly few COVID-19 infections have been reported from air travel, likely due to measures like refreshing and recirculating cabin air through specialized filters. A recent study found that when an airplane is in flight, it has the lowest number of aerosol particles – vehicles for the virus – compared to other spaces. This Aliquot segment features Dr. Roger Seheult, a quadruple board-certified physician serving on the frontlines of COVID-19 care and co-founder of MedCram.
