“The disease is caused by a single genetic mutation, called a CAG repeat, that drives abnormal protein folding and aggregation of the huntingtin protein and subsequent death of striatal neurons.”

“And, although IGF-1 is best known for its role in muscle growth, it also works with brain-derived neurotrophic factor, or BDNF, to promote neurogenesis – the growth of new neurons in the brain.”

“Interestingly, serum levels of S100B and neuron-specific enolase (proteins associated with brain injury) were also higher after HIIT than after rest but were comparable to those after MICE.”

“They inactivated DMV neurons that connect to the jejunum (the middle portion of the intestine), shortening the length of the microvilli in the gut and reducing fat absorption. However, stimulating DMV neurons increased fat absorption and promoted weight gain.”

“The authors of the study used viral gene therapy to induce hyper-interleukin-6 production in the animals' damaged neurons. They found that the hyper-interleukin-6 production caused the axons of various nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord to regenerate within one week of gene therapy.”

“These two species produce compounds called fatty acid amides, which interact with gut neurons and ultimately activate dopamine-producing neurons in the brain, turning on the brain's reward circuits and triggering the desire to exercise.”

“tDCS is a noninvasive method that can excite neurons by applying weak electric currents to the scalp. It was applied to a brain region previously identified to be associated with honesty in 145 participants (double-blinded experiment).”

“The most common symptoms of infection from SARS-CoV2, the virus responsible for COVID-19, include fever, cough, shortness of breath, and indications of widespread respiratory system involvement. Recent evidence suggests that SARS-CoV2 can attack other organ systems, as well.”

“Researchers used a mouse model of PTSD to test whether increasing neurogenesis—the process of forming new neurons—could weaken fear-based memories. They focused on the hippocampus, a brain region that links memories to specific places and contexts.”

“When this protein was injected into old mice, it increased the activity of a group of genes that improved neuronal activity within the hippocampus and made it more able to adapt to new information.”
