How much sugar is too much? Why the source and context matter
A spoonful of sugar in coffee, a glass of orange juice, and a piece of fruit all contribute sugar to the diet, but they may have different effects on long-term health. How much sugar is consumed, the foods that provide it, and the broader eating pattern and lifestyle all shape those effects. Understanding where the risks come from offers a more nuanced way to think about sugar than simply labeling it "good" or "bad."
"No added sugar" does not mean sugar-free
