APOE4 disrupts fat metabolism in brain cells, increasing Alzheimer's disease risk – but choline may restore normal metabolism.

Dec 30, 2022

“Disrupted fat metabolism drives the link between the APOE4 gene and Alzheimer's disease risk, according to a new study. Choline supplementation helps restore normal fat metabolism, however. Researchers studied the effects of the APOE4 gene on fat metabolism in astrocytes – a type of brain cell.”

Plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) are a special immune cell that accumulate in visceral fat, producing lymphoid structures driving secondary disease

May 18, 2022

“Findings from a recent study suggest that a high-fat diet promotes the activity of plasmacytoid dendritic cells, a type of immune cell. Plasmacytoid dendritic cells, also known as natural interferon-producing cells, are critical components of both the innate and adaptive immune response.”
