A new study shows even just 10 minutes of mild exercise strengthens connections and communication between memory-focused parts of the brain in people.

Oct 6, 2018

“After 10 minutes of light exercise (30% VO2max) high-resolution functional magnetic resonance imaging showed better connectivity between the hippocampal dentate gyrus and cortical areas linked to detailed memory processing. The magnitude of the enhanced functional connectivity also predicted the extent of memory improvement suggesting that even light exercise is good for the brain.”

Injecting mesenchymal stem cells into mouse legs prior to exercise increase rate of repair and enhance growth and strength

Feb 1, 2022

“FTA: > By injecting MSCs into mouse leg muscles prior to several bouts of eccentric exercise (similar to the lengthening contractions performed during resistance training in humans that result in mild muscle damage), researchers were able to increase the rate of repair and enhance the growth and strength of those muscles in the exercising mice.”

High-intensity intermittent exercise reduces postprandial triglycerides and markers of inflammation and oxidative stress (small clinical trial).

Dec 29, 2017

“Subjects rested (control), walked briskly for 30 min (walking) or performed 5×30 s maximal sprints (high-intensity). Another study found that the beneficial effects of high-intensity interval training on postprandial triglyceride levels were abolished 2 days after exercise.”

Regular aerobic exercise in older rats reduces brain inflammation, nerve fiber demyelination, and iron-triggered cell death—potential contributors to Alzheimer's pathology.

Feb 6, 2025

“A recent study involving older rats found that regular aerobic exercise reduces age-related inflammation in the brain and improves the balance between nerve fibers and their protective myelin coating. Researchers had older rats exercise on a treadmill for eight weeks.”
