“In a study of more than 25,000 UK Biobank adults who reported no structured exercise, about three short VILPA bouts per day were associated with 38 to 40 percent lower all-cause and cancer mortality and 48 to 49 percent lower cardiovascular mortality compared with no VILPA.”

“A few minutes of VILPA per day was associated with lower all-cause, cardiovascular, and cancer mortality during follow-up, but the observational design cannot prove that the activity caused the risk differences.”

“Large cohort analyses associate higher sedentary time with greater all-cause and cardiovascular mortality, while regular activity can offset part of that relationship. Vigorous intermittent lifestyle physical activity, or VILPA, offers one time-efficient option.”

“There is so much to say when we talk about the NRF2 pathway and isothiocyanates like sulforaphane that we had to pack it into 47 minutes and break it into a few key sections. Key sections: For a more in-depth breakdown click the timeline link at the top of this page!”

“Recent human studies indicate that the fewer carbohydrates one eats, the lower the risk of death from all causes. In this clip, Dr. Eric Verdin explains the importance of the insulin signaling pathway in aging and highlights both animal and human research in this area.”

“The Kuopio Ischemic Heart Disease Risk Factor Study, an ongoing prospective population-based cohort study of health outcomes in more than 2,300 middle-aged men from eastern Finland, identified strong, dose-dependent links between sauna use and reduced death and disease.”

“A separate cohort of 1,628 men and women linked four to seven weekly sessions with a 62 percent lower adjusted risk of incident stroke than one weekly session. The Finnish mortality cohort also found that sessions longer than 19 minutes were associated with lower sudden cardiac death than sessions shorter than 11 minutes.”

“She also describes observational evidence that physical activity modified the association between short sleep and mortality. A large cohort found that higher physical activity attenuated, but did not erase, mortality associations with unhealthy sleep patterns.”
