Butyrate
“Microbial production of short-chain fatty acids, including acetate and propionate, occurs in the colon during the fermentation of indigestible fibers found in plant foods such as legumes, fruits, nuts, cereals, and whole grains.”
Choline
“Choline is found in both animal- and plant-based foods, with eggs being an especially rich source—one large egg provides approximately 147 mg. Other sources include meat, poultry, fish, dairy products, cruciferous vegetables, beans, nuts, seeds, and whole grains.”
Intestinal permeability
“Whole foods such as vegetables, fruits, and nuts are the best way to obtain adequate fiber and polyphenols, although these nutrients are also in supplements. Probiotics can be found in fermented foods such as yogurt and kimchi and are also available as supplements.”
Zinc
“Phytates and iron can inhibit zinc absorption, while protein can increase zinc absorption. Phytate – a natural substance primarily found in seeds, nuts, legumes, and grains – is the primary dietary inhibitor of zinc bioavailability.”
Magnesium
“Nuts and seeds, such as pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, or almonds. Whole grains, such as brown rice, oats, or whole wheat products. Multiple factors influence magnesium bioavailability Several factors inhibit magnesium bioavailability, diminishing the mineral's absorption and utilization.”
People with colon cancer who ate 2 ounces of nuts per week lowered their risk of recurrence by 42% and death by 57%.
“The study did not find any lower risk of cancer recurrence for those who ate peanuts which are a legume and not a tree nut. Nuts are great sources of many micronutrients and both fermentable fiber (which feeds the gut microbiome) and non-fermentable fiber.”
Mediterranean diet with olive oil and nuts was able to reverse metabolic syndrome.
“FTA: > For people with metabolic syndrome, a Mediterranean diet supplemented with extra-virgin olive oil or nuts may help reverse the condition, indicate findings from a clinical trial.”
Men that supplemented their diet with 60 grams of mixed nuts daily increased their sperm count by 16%, sperm vitality by 4%, and sperm motility by 6%.
“The mixed nuts included almonds, hazelnuts, and walnuts which are high in many micronutrients including magnesium, zinc, vitamin E, omega-3 (ALA) and more. The study also found that supplementing with nuts resulted in men having less fragmentation of sperm DNA, which is linked to infertility.”
Sauna
“Sauna users should take care to drink sufficient fluids prior to and after sauna sessions and should consume electrolyte-rich foods post-sauna use, such as cooked spinach, avocado, tomatoes, fish, nuts, and seeds.”
