“This controlled immune challenge supports a connection between inflammation and sickness behavior, while ordinary post-meal fatigue can also reflect meal size, circadian timing, sleep debt, and glucose or insulin responses.”

“Dr. Elinav explains how bacterial products that coordinate activity between the gut, mucus layer, and immune system are integral to maintaining a healthy gut barrier. In this clip, Dr. Eran Elinav discusses the intestinal barrier's important role in absorbing nutrients while keeping out pathogens.”

“Eating food is hard on the gut as it involves the ingestion of foreign substances. The gut lining becomes slightly compromised with each meal, and the immune system is activated. Humans may have evolved strategies to counteract these risks.”

“Personalized mRNA vaccines based on mutations found in an individual tumor. For a personalized cancer vaccine, researchers can sequence a tumor, identify candidate mutations that may be visible to the immune system, and design an mRNA construct encoding selected targets.”

“Antibody-dependent enhancement (ADE) occurs when the immune system generates non-functional antibodies that bind to a pathogen, intensifying inflammation and tissue damage without neutralizing the pathogen.”

“The research, which used mice, showed that vaccinating the mother resulted in vaccination of the baby through this process of transferring maternal immune cells which then guide the infant's immune cells to attack the same infectious organisms to which the mother has been exposed.”

“Vaccinologists developed mRNA vaccines to instruct a cell to make proteins that stimulate the immune system against SARS-CoV-2. Some people fear these vaccines are a type of gene therapy that can incorporate into human DNA and alter genes.”

“Upon hospital admission, dexamethasone — administered to suppress an overactive immune system — may allow dormant parasitic infections to become active. Because ivermectin is an antiparasitic agent, it may benefit these patients not for its role against SARS-CoV-2, but by killing parasites.”

“Evidence for lower pneumonia risk and immune effects is observational or mechanistic and does not prove infection prevention. For mood, controlled whole-body hyperthermia reduced depressive symptoms in a small trial. Dr. Patrick discusses a possible opioid-system contribution, but that hypothesis is not established as the treatment mechanism.”
