“In a controlled five-week crossover trial involving men with prediabetes, an early six-hour eating window with dinner before 3 p.m. improved insulin sensitivity, pancreatic beta-cell responsiveness, blood pressure, oxidative stress, and appetite without causing weight loss.”

“He also describes broader mechanisms under study. Exercise mobilizes natural killer cells and T cells, reduces insulin and inflammatory signaling, and increases vascular shear stress that may make circulating tumor cells less likely to survive.”

“Overall, even very brief but frequent bouts of physical activity during prolonged sitting can blunt glucose and insulin surges. For people who sit for much of the day, integrating 2 to 5 minute activity breaks every half hour may offer a realistic complement to standard exercise prescriptions.”

“Acutely, however, caffeine can raise glucose or reduce insulin sensitivity in some people through sympathetic activation, so a short-term glucose response is not identical to the longer-term association. Timing provides the practical answer.”

“Authors of a recent study detail their findings regarding the effects of avocatin B in carbohydrate and fat metabolism. Diet-induced obesity causes insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease, in part due to lipotoxicity, although the exact mechanisms are unclear.”

“Meal timing can affect selected markers in specific settings. In a five-week crossover study of eight men with prediabetes, an early six-hour window improved insulin sensitivity, beta-cell responsiveness, morning blood pressure, oxidative stress, and appetite without weight loss.”

“Studies using CT imaging associate higher visceral fat with insulin resistance and increased risks of cardiovascular disease, cancer, and mortality. Visceral fat can respond to changes in energy balance and physical activity.”

“A meta-analysis of 42 trials found that interrupting sitting reduced post-meal glucose and insulin, while small trials found improved cardiorespiratory fitness after brief stair-climbing sessions and increased muscle-protein-synthesis signaling after walking or squat breaks.”

“Visceral fat is stored deep in the abdomen around internal organs and is closely associated with insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, fatty liver, cardiovascular disease, and some cancers.”

“In a ten-week randomized trial of 16 men with overweight or obesity, high-intensity training produced greater improvements than continuous aerobic training in peak VO2, glucose-tolerance-derived insulin-sensitivity measures, and muscle mitochondrial content.”
