“FTA: > A new diet, appropriately known by the acronym MIND, could significantly lower a person's risk of developing Alzheimer's disease, even if the diet is not meticulously followed, according to a new article.”

“A meta-analysis led by Dr. Stuart Phillips found that individuals consuming 1.6 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight daily while engaging in resistance training increased their muscle mass by 27% and their strength by 10%, compared to those who trained without extra protein.”

“Still another study, older adults who consumed 4 grams of krill oil daily for six months improved knee strength, grip strength, thigh muscle thickness, and measures of muscle nerve response. There are still open questions.”

Dr. Rhonda Patrick answers audience questions on various health, nutrition, and science topics in this Q&A session.

“Preliminary findings from a study analyzing UK Biobank data with over 25,000 participants suggest that even 3-4 minutes of VILPA daily could reduce all-cause mortality risk by 25-30%.”

“A few minutes of VILPA per day was associated with lower all-cause, cardiovascular, and cancer mortality during follow-up, but the observational design cannot prove that the activity caused the risk differences.”

“Long-term population research has identified age-independent declines in testosterone in some male cohorts, supporting the view that changes in men's hormonal health can involve more than aging alone. BPA and phthalates can interact with hormone-related biological pathways.”

“Across the modeled outcomes, one vigorous minute was associated with risk reductions similar to about 4.1 moderate minutes for all-cause mortality, 7.8 for cardiovascular mortality, 5.4 for major cardiovascular events, and 9.4 for incident type 2 diabetes.”

“Seventy percent of adults living in the United States have overweight (BMI greater than 25) or obesity (BMI greater than 30), putting them at increased risk of metabolic disease. Extra fat stored around the body promotes inflammation and insulin resistance, but extra abdominal fat is particularly dangerous.”

“Doubling the recommended amount, ensuring a daily intake of 1.6 to 1.8 grams per kilogram (0.7 to 0.8 grams per pound) of body weight, will pay the greatest dividends for promoting muscle protein synthesis for non-novices.”
