“In REDUCE-IT, prescription icosapent ethyl lowered major ischemic events among statin-treated adults with elevated triglycerides, while atrial fibrillation or flutter requiring hospitalization occurred more often in the treatment group.”

“Some studies suggest cheese may lower the risk of dementia and heart disease, despite its saturated fat content—raising questions about the effects of food structure, fermentation, and individual differences in metabolism.”

“Dr. Patrick links hypertension with cardiovascular disease and dementia risk and emphasizes magnesium-rich foods within a DASH-style pattern, including leafy greens, legumes, nuts, and whole grains. A meta-analysis found modest average blood-pressure reductions with supplemental magnesium.”

“In this clip from Dr. Rhonda Patrick's appearance on MedCram, Kyle Allred asks how sauna use might relate to dementia and mood. Dr. Patrick begins with a prospective Finnish cohort in which men reporting four to seven sauna sessions per week had lower dementia and Alzheimer's disease incidence than men reporting one session.”

“Late-life randomized evidence has not shown that statins prevent dementia, while trial evidence also does not establish that statins cause dementia. These boundaries differ from Dr. Attia’s personalized monitoring practices.”

“Finnish cohorts associated frequent sauna use with lower cardiovascular mortality and lower dementia risk, but these observational findings cannot establish prevention. Dr. Patrick discusses a commonly studied pattern near 174–175 °F for about 20 minutes and notes that infrared sauna may require longer exposure.”

“They are additions to sleep, nutrition, resistance training, and daily movement, not replacements. Finnish cohorts associated frequent sauna use with lower cardiovascular and all-cause mortality and lower dementia incidence.”

“The risk reduction associated with light to moderate drinking may be as high as 26%–28% for dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. A more modest 10% reduction in the risk of dementia may occur at four drinks per week.”

“An observational cohort also associated recorded vitamin D supplement exposure with lower dementia incidence, providing a reason for further study of vitamin D status and brain health.”

“Since the invention of the omega-3 index, a host of research continues to emerge showing the importance of omega-3 status in risks ranging from cardiac-associated death to all-cause mortality to dementia and covid-19 severity.”
